SUV catches fire near Aberdeen High School

No one was injured after an SUV caught fire Tuesday afternoon near Aberdeen High School.

Aberdeen Police and Fire were dispatched to the intersection of Second and G Streets around 1:45 p.m. on a report of a vehicle fire. Aberdeen resident David M. Schimelpfenig, 19, was driving the vehicle and said it stalled at the intersection before catching fire after Schimelpfenig said smoke was coming from the engine.

Firefighters put out the fire and the vehicle was towed. Neither Schimelpfenig nor an Aberdeen Police Officer on scene knew the cause of the fire as of Tuesday afternoon.
