Northington to take Rocquin’s spot as AHS Principal

Sherri Northington will take over as Aberdeen High School Principal following Rocky Rocquin’s retirement at the end of June.

Northington has served as Co-Principal with Rocquin for the past two years and worked at Aberdeen High School as an assistant principal from 2008 to 2010. Before returning to Aberdeen High in 2013, Northington was the Principal of Harbor High School for three years.

Rocquin worked for the Aberdeen District for 17 years as an administrator, teacher and coach.

“It’s a great opportunity,” said Northington of taking on the new position.

“I’ve loved working here in the district, it’s been really rewarding.”

In the March 14 issue of The Daily World, an article incorrectly stated that Aberdeen High School had not yet chosen a new principal to replace Rocquin.

Superintendent Tom Opstad said the District is looking to create a job posting for an assistant principal to work with the administrative team at the high school and hopes to have it ready for potential candidates sometime within the next week.
