Stevens Elementary classes canceled after threats made to principal

Classes at Stevens Elementary School were canceled on Wednesday, before school ever started, after threats were made to the school’s principal, said Aberdeen Police Sgt. Art Laur.

Laur said a former employee of the school allegedly made unspecified threats to the principal around 7:30 a.m. over the phone. The school was put into lockdown after the call was received and all classes were cancelled.

Parents were notified by phone and text message. School employees were outside of the school to let arriving parents know of the closure, as well.

Police are trying to get in contact with the former employee who allegedly made the threats and are receiving assistance in the investigation from the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is continuing.
