A powerful storm bringing high winds and enough rain to possibly cause flooding on some Western Washington rivers is expected to hit the coast sometime Monday.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Washington coast through Tuesday afternoon. The wind is expected to rise through Monday night and peak early Tuesday morning, easing that afternoon. Southeast winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph are expected.
A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph are expected.
Charles Wallace, deputy director of the Grays Harbor Emergency Management office, said the wind could be strong enough to snap small tree branches and knock over small or shallow rooted trees. He said power outages are possible.
