The Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office has located a missing 2-month-old child and his mother, Christine D. Curry.
The mother and child were found by Grays Harbor Sheriff’s deputies at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday in a residence near the town of Matlock in Mason County. Tips provided by Curry’s aquaintances led deputies to the residence. Both were located in a back room of the house.
Curry was taken into custody without incident on a felony warrant for theft in the first degree. She has been booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail.
The child was turned over to Child Protective Services.
The Drug Task Force and the Mason County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest.
On Wednesday, the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office began searching for the family after Child Protective Services could not locate the baby boy during a child-welfare check. The family was last seen on Nov. 25 in Elma.
Child Protective Services petitioned a writ of habeas corpus — an order to have police search for and recover the child.
While the child was the focus of the investigation, the father, Chase S. Poledna, has not been located, Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate said. The father also has a felony warrant for theft in the first degree.
Chase S. Polenda is 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds and has blue eyes and black hair. He was last seen driving a white, 1998 Ford Windstar. Anyone with information regarding the location of Chase S. Polenda is asked to contact the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s office at (360) 249-3711.
