The Travel Channel’s “Hotel Impossible” episode featuring the Ocean Crest Resort in Moclips airs this evening, and the family that owns the resort and restaurant takes some heat in the hour-long feature.
The episode is called, “Clearing the Heir,” and focuses partly on the family of matriarch and original owner Barbara Topete, which runs and operates the facility.
Some family members have expressed regret with how they were treated by host and star of the show, Anthony Melchiorri, who is billed as a “hotel fixer who can turn any establishment around in weeks.”
“Melchiorri’s tough-love style can be hard to swallow and overhauling a business is a painful and often emotional task, but the potential reward of a fully booked hotel with excellent customer reviews makes it all worth it,” the show’s website says.
No doubt the style did not play well in Moclips during the time Melchiorri and crew were in town during late September.
Here’s what the show says in a preview of the episode: “With guest rooms reminiscent of a ’70s sitcom and an heir who seems completely clueless, the hotel needs Anthony to prepare the next generation to sell it or save it.”
As part of the show, a contractor is brought in to renovate one of the Ocean Crest’s view rooms that look out over the Pacific Ocean.
