Congressman Derek Kilmer, D-Wash., spent part of Thursday afternoon meeting with Wishkah River Distillery partner and lead distiller Josh Mayr to tour his facility and discuss issues facing Mayr as a business owner. Much of their discussion focused around House Bill 4083, which if passed, would reduce excised taxes on distilled spirits to $2.70 per proof gallon from $13.50. Mayr says he would spend the money saved from the bill on hiring another employee to further grow his business and urged Kilmer to support the bill.
