Aberdeen man assaulted with pipe

A 55-year-old Aberdeen man told police he was attacked by a man with a pipe last night, the Aberdeen Police Department reported.

Officers contacted the man at Grays Harbor Community Hospital at about 9:10 p.m., Capt. John Green said. The man told police he was at a house in the 300 block of South Lincoln Street to make an estimate to cut the grass, and while he was looking at a shed the homeowner wanted taken down, he was pushed down.

He told police the suspect demanded his wallet and money, Green said, then hit him on the head and torso with what looked like a metal pipe.

The victim began yelling, and the suspect grabbed an older flip phone and some keys that were on a thin rope around the man’s neck and left.

A friend brought the man to the hospital, where he was contacted by police.

The suspect was wearing a ski mask at the time, which was recovered near the scene. He’s described as a white man, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, possibly with blue eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information is asked to call the Aberdeen Police Department at 533-3180 or the tip line at 538-4450.
