Aberdeen Police seeking information on dog found hanged

Aberdeen Police are seeking information surrounding the circumstances of a deceased dog that officers believe was hanged to death, said Aberdeen Police Captain John Green.

Green said an officer responded at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday morning to a report of a puppy that was deceased and hanging by a leash around its neck in the 400 block of West 5th Street. The officer found a brown dog, estimated to be three or four months old, hanging by its leash, which had been tied to the top of a wooden fence.

Police and an Animal Control Officer believe the dog suffocated while hanging from the fence, said Green.

Anyone with information regarding the crime, or someone who may recognize the dog, should call the Aberdeen Police Department at (360) 533-3180 or the Department’s tip line, (360) 538-4450.
