Aberdeen bicyclist sent to hospital after being struck by vehicle


An Aberdeen man was taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital after after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike through the intersection of South Clark and West Marion Streets Thursday afternoon, said Aberdeen Fire Battalion Chief Damon Lillybridge.


Aberdeen Police Lieutenant C.J. Chastain said officers were dispatched to the accident at 1:22 p.m. after a woman called police saying she had hit a bicyclist with her vehicle. According to Chastain, the woman was heading westbound on Marion Street at low speed when she hit the biker, who was traveling northbound through the intersection.


Chastain said the woman had stopped at the intersection’s stop sign before striking the victim.


The victim was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital after the accident and Lillybridge did not know the extent of the man’s injuries at the time of the accident.


Charges surrounding the accident are pending, said Chastain.
