Aberdeen man charged with first-degree rape allegedly held woman in his apartment for almost a week


An 57-year-old Aberdeen man has been arrested for first-degree rape after he allegedly held a woman against her will in his apartment and sexually assaulted her multiple times over several days, said Aberdeen Police Captain John Green.


The victim, a 44-year-old Taholah woman, said she came into contact with the man on Jan. 31 and accepted an invitation to his apartment in the 200 block of East Wishkah Street.


After this initial contact, she said the man held her in his apartment against her will and sexually assaulted her, said Green.


On Feb. 5, a male who the victim knew came to the apartment and left with the victim, who was then taken to the hospital where the incident was reported to the Aberdeen Police Department.


On Feb. 6, around 8 p.m., an Aberdeen Police Detective came in to assist with the case and obtained a search warrant for the apartment where the alleged assaults took place. Police located the suspect at the apartment and arrested him, He was booked into the city jail and was expected to appear in Grays Harbor District Court on Tuesday.
