Senior management changes at Westport Shipyard

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Washington-based Westport LLC announced today that the company has recently made two important changes in the company’s management structure.

Alex Rogers, who has more than 25 years of experience in the yachting industry and been a successful broker with the Westport organization since 2001, has been appointed to the position of director of sales and will be in charge of new construction and brokerage operations worldwide. He will coordinate closely with the brokers, build client relations and work closely on promoting the brand.

Ron Nugent, who has held the position of Westport’s global director of marketing for nearly 14 years and been involved in the yachting industry for more than 20 years, has assumed additional duties as the director of the company’s sales and service facility in Fort Lauderdale.

“We are very pleased to have had Alex and Ron advance to their new positions as they both bring business acumen, as well as extensive knowledge of the Westport brand,” said Westport’s president, Daryl Wakefield. “Every company likes to be able to promote from within its ranks, and in this instance, the choice was especially gratifying.”

Westport Shipyard is celebrating its 51st year in business.

In addition to the Florida facility, the company owns and operates three shipyards in Washington State where it builds composite yachts from 85 to 164 feet.
