McKala Sherman was the first baby born this year at the Family Birth Center at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. The 8-pound, 3-ounce girl
was born at 9:43 a.m. Jan. 1, to Hollie and Earl Sherman Jr. She was 20.5 inches long. McKala is the
first child for the Shermans, who are residents of Hoquiam. The hospital’s birth center delivered more than 525 babies in 2014. Dr. Nicholas Hallak
delivered McKala. He has delivered the first baby of the year for the past 7 years.
