Cormier waives ORCAA fees for residents in counties hit hardest by flood

County Commissioner Wes Cormier’s proposal that all permit fees through the Olympic Regional Clean Air Agency be waived for residents in counties that were proclaimed disaster areas as a result of recent storms and flooding passed unanimously at the Jan. 14 meeting of ORCAA in Olympia.

“I wanted to give as much relief as possible to those affected by the flooding and landslides,” said Cormier, who is a member of the ORCAA board of directors.

The proposal was designed to assist residents hit hardest by the recent storm. Cormier plans to present a similar county policy soon that would waive fees for permits in the county Planning, Building, Roads/Engineering and Environmental Health departments in a four-month window.

“I already have a policy in the works. I am going to set up a special meeting … and try to get it approved by my fellow commissioners,” Cormier said on Friday.
