Police search for suspect in attempted restaurant break-in


Police interrupted a possible burglary in progress at Thai Smiles early this morning, the Aberdeen Police Department reported, and are looking for help locating the suspect.


Officers responded to the 100 block of North Park Street at about 6 a.m. Thursday after a report of a possible burglary at the restaurant. They saw a man running away, heading northbound. A witness reported the suspect jumped into a red Geo Metro and fled northbound on Washington Street.


Officers found a U-Haul truck with a damaged ignition and dashboard at the scene.


The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, about six feet tall with a thin build, last seen wearing a black leather jacket, gray hoodie, blue jeans and white athletic shoes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Aberdeen Police Department at 533-3180 or the tip line at 538-4450.
