Oakville robbers still on the run

The Oakville School was locked down Tuesday morning as deputies searched for two men who allegedly robbed a medical marijuana dispensary, the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office said.

At about 9:15 a.m., the owner of Green Harbour Medical Marijuana Co-Op in Oakville reported he was robbed by two men wearing ski masks, Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate said.

“Given the nature of the business, we believe the suspects specifically targeted this business,” Shumate wrote in a press release.

The owner said the men came up behind him as he opened the safe and stuck something in his back, which he believed was a gun but never saw. They ordered the owner to hand over an undisclosed amount of cash and marijuana from the safe, then ran off northbound from the shop. The owner was not injured.

The search was completed as of about 11:30 a.m., Shumate reported, but the suspects were not located. Investigators are still on scene trying to find more information.

Numerous law enforcement agencies responded to help with the search, including Chehalis Tribal Police, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Patrol and the Elma Police Department. A Thurston County K-9 unit was called in to help track the suspects but was unable to develop a track.

The school was locked down as a precaution, Shumate said. No threat was ever made to the school. The lockdown was lifted when the search was complete.

Anyone with information should call the Grays Harbor Communications Center at 360-533-8765 or the Sheriff’s Office at 360-249-3711.
