Unofficial Cobain memorial up for auction

Two benches that once stood near Kurt Cobain’s Seattle home are up for auction.

The wood benches from Viretta Park are covered in graffiti, much of it notes to Cobain following his suicide in 1994. The slats were removed from the park in 2008, but re-set on similar bench pipes and kept by a private collector. It’s now headed for the auction block at Hamilton’s Auction Gallery in Tacoma, 505 Puyallup Ave.

The auction will be held at 6 p.m., May 6, and online bidding is open at http://bit.ly/1o7pzdo. The high bid as of Thursday afternoon was $55.
