Two masked men kicked in the door to a home in the 200 block of East Alder Street in Oakville early this morning, according to the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office.
The residents, a man and a woman, told police the men broke in and assaulted them at about 5 a.m.
“During the altercation, it appears that the mask of one of the suspects had been removed and a possible identity obtained,” Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate wrote in a press release.
The men fled without taking anything. Investigators are on scene working to develop suspects and determine a possible motive.
Meantime, in the same general area, Chehalis Tribal Police were involved in a vehicle pursuit with the help of deputies. The fleeing vehicle crashed near Highway 12 and Mox Chehalis Road in Malone. Three people were detained, but the driver ran away. A K-9 team was called in to help find the driver. At this point, Shumate said, none of the people in the vehicle appear to be involved with the attempted robbery.
