A 30-year-old Aberdeen man is believed to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he drove into an oncoming car, injuring himself, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Leonard R. Denney was stopped in the northbound shoulder of State Route 109 just west of Hoquiam, facing southbound, at about 2:10 p.m. Monday, according to a State Patrol memo.
As he pulled back onto the road, he struck Robert E. Koester Jr., 56, of Bowling Green, Ohio, head-on. Koester went off the roadway to the left, into some bushes, but was uninjured.
Denney was taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital. The State Patrol reported he was the cause of the collision, and expects him to be charged with driving under the influence.
