Hospital board members file for public hospital commissioner positions

So far, four candidates have filed to run for the proposed hospital district commission positions, including two current members of the Grays Harbor Community Hospital board.

Peter Scroggs, the current Community Hospital Board of Directors president, filed to run for the District 5 position, which would include most of Aberdeen. Maryann Welch, the board’s executive secretary, filed to run for the District 1 position, representing Montesano, Central Park and the the Wynooche Valley Road.

Miles Longenbaugh, a financial adviser with Edward Jones in Ocean Shores, filed to run for the District 3 position, representing the north beach area, Humptulips and Quinault.

Another candidate, Ryan Farr, also filed to run as an at-large commissioner.

If the measure creating Public Hospital District No. 2 is passed on the August ballot, seven hospital commissioner positions will also be created — one for each of the five districts, and two at-large positions. Katy Moore, the county’s elections administrator, said citizens have until 4:30 Friday to file.

But if candidates don’t come forward for all of the positions, the county will have to open another filing period in a few weeks, Moore said.

“We’ve had a few people call and say they’re interested, but so far only three have filed,” Moore said.

Candidates can file in-person at the Grays Harbor County Auditor’s office or online at http://ift.tt/1nsw9xR.
