Police seek information on possible child luring

Police are looking for information about a man who asked a 13-year-old girl to get in his truck.

The girl told police the man approached her as she was walking to catch her bus at about 7:15 a.m. in the alley near the Washington State Patrol office in Hoquiam, according to Hoquiam Police Department Sgt. Jeff Salstrom.

She said the man asked her if she wanted a ride, and when she declined, he became more insistent and asked, “Are you sure?” She said no again and the man drove toward Simpson Avenue.

The girl missed her bus and headed home. She noticed the man parked in the lot of Grocery Outlet, watching her, but she continued home without further incident.

The man was described as white, in his 30s, clean shaven with short brown hair and crooked teeth. He was driving a light brown, smaller Toyota pick-up truck with a silver colored rear bumper.

“Unfortunately it was nearly 11 hours before this incident was reported to police,” Salstrom wrote in a press release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Grays Harbor E911 at 360-533-8765.
