A homeless Hoquiam man was struck by a car in Aberdeen Wednesday night, apparently while following a woman “growling and yelling,” according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
Officers responded to the 1700 block of Simpson Avenue at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday where a 59-year-old Shelton woman had struck the 33-year-old man with her car, Office David Cox said.
“The witness stated the pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle had been walking behind her growling and yelling at her,” Cox said. “She stated she crossed the street, as he was making her uncomfortable and to get away from him.”
After that, she said, the man tried to cross the street too but was hit by a car.
The driver told officers she was heading eastbound on Simpson when the man walked out in front of her without warning. The driver in the car behind her confirmed that, and that the woman was driving under the speed limit.
The man was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital by the Aberdeen Fire Department.
