A public meeting at Grays Harbor College on Tuesday is among four the U.S. Navy is planning next week on its updated training and testing plans.


The Navy prepared the supplement to the Northwest Training and Testing Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Overseas Environmental Impact Statement (EIS/OEIS) to evaluate the potential environmental effects of additional military readiness training activities resulting from recently updated training requirements, according to a Navy press release.


The four open-house meetings are intended to help inform the public about the Navy’s findings in the supplement to the draft EIS/OEIS, to answer questions and to solicit public comments, which will be accepted throughout the meeting.


The meeting at Grays Harbor College’s Hillier Union Building is set for Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. Meetings will also be held in Poulsbo on Monday, Newport, Ore., on Wednesday and Eureka, Calif., on Friday.


The a copy of the supplement document is available for public review online at www.NWTTEIS.com, and also at the Hoquiam and Aberdeen Timberland libraries.
