After crash, driver pulls a knife

A driver who allegedly struck another car in Aberdeen last night is accused of threatening a witness and the other driver with a “Rambo type knife,” the Aberdeen Police Department reported.

Officers arrived at the scene of the collision at First and B streets at about 6 p.m. Monday night. Witnesses reported a 36-year-old Aberdeen man driving a pickup truck ran the stop sign and collided with a van driven by a 32-year-old Aberdeen man. No injuries were reported.

A witness told police he had taken a photo of the truck’s license plate because he was concerned the man would flee the scene. The suspect then allegedly exited his car, and displayed a “Rambo type knife,” Capt. John Green wrote in a press release.

Officers were told he held the knife in a threatening manner toward the witness, making slashing motions and verbally threatening the other driver. He returned to his truck as officers arrived on scene.

The man was arrested for second-degree assault and transported the the City of Aberdeen jail.
