A 64-year-old hiker missing since Friday in the Olympic National Park arrived safe and well at the Elwha Ranger Station on Monday, rangers reported.
Kelly Hall was reported missing after he failed to rendezvous with a family member at the Slab Camp Trailhead on Forest Road 2875 on Thursday evening, said a park spokeswoman. Hall, who is from Bainbridge Island, had set out on a 39-mile hike on Saturday, Aug 30. He arrived at the ranger station shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday, where he quickly got in touch with park staff who had been searching for him since late Friday.
“We are overjoyed to have this search reach a successful and happy conclusion,” said park Superintendent Sarah Creachbaum.
Searchers who contributed to the effort include National Park Service employees and volunteers, an aircraft and crew from Washington State Patrol, volunteers from Olympic Mountain Rescue, Clallam County Search and Rescue and German Shepherd Search Dogs.
