Westport will host its 17th Annual Art Festival this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 17. This year’s event promises to be bigger than ever with more than 80 art, crafts and food booths, free entertainment, fun activities for the kids, a Corvette Show ‘N Shine, and a student art contest and exhibit.
Marina District venue
The free admission event is held on the historic Westport Maritime Museum grounds and all along the Westport Marina Esplanade Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There’s plenty of free parking nearby.
Live entertainment
Free live performances will be offered both days of the festival throughout the area. Entertainers include singers, musicians, jugglers, magicians, belly dancers, a stilt walker and more.
Festival food
Come hungry! This year’s Art Festival includes iced drinks, hot dogs, corn dogs, hamburgers, deli sandwiches, cheesy nachos, specialty sausages, roasted turkey legs, burgers, elephant ears, caramel corn, kettle corn, ice cream and more.
If you’d like to sit down and be served, several Marina District restaurants offer great choices, as well, with a wide variety of price ranges to suit everyone’s budget.
Arts, crafts, clothing, lotions, potions and more
More than 80 vendors will offer a huge variety of unique items that demonstrate their talents in nearly as many art forms from cloth to paint, ceramics to cements, wood to writing and much, much more. The Westport Maritime Museum grounds will be filled with arts and crafts booths, as well as the entire length of the Westport Esplanade.
Artwork presentation
The Westport Art Festival organization annually purchases a piece of art as a gift to the City of Westport for installation in public spaces on a permanent basis.
